Everyone loves to think about the fun of buying a home with a pool, but very few consider the need for pool fencing. Even people that have above ground pools are not exempt from this requirement, and must have an above ground pool fence installed. There are a number of types to choose from, but the key is to select a model that works properly with your particular pool. Many homeowners do not like the idea of getting a fence because they feel that it detracts from the attractive appearance of their pool and entertainment area. It is true that the cheaper styles of fencing are less than pretty, but they serve a much more important purpose, the protection of your children. Do not let a pool safety fence or any other safety measure substitute for your own supervision. Drowning accidents can happen in a matter of moments and lead to a deadly outcome. If you have to leave for even a minute, then remove the children from the pool. It may frustrate them but it will keep them safe. The last very important thing that you can do as a parent is to learn CPR. This will not prevent accidents from occurring but it can prevent bad accidents from becoming fatal.
Pool fencing is a wonderful tool to help you keep your family safe, but it is not the sole measure that you should take. Learn to use common sense and learn safe outdoor and pool practices to ensure that your backyard remains a place for fun and not a place of tragedy.
